Position: Production Coordinator
Details: 18 hours per week, permanent position
Salary: $24/h
Location: Centre for Art Tapes, 2238 Maitland St, K'jipuktuk (Halifax) Nova Scotia
Starting Date: September 12th, 2023

Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Production Coordinator ensures that the Centre’s production and facilities and equipment are accessible to the membership and public. The position works as a liaison between artists and the centre by keeping resources up to date and in good working order, maintaining proper records of rental requests, memberships and gear. The Production Coordinator works collaboratively with the Programming Coordinator and any relevant contract staff to work as a technical advisor for upcoming events and programs.
Duties
The Production Coordinator’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ensuring that all equipment is kept in good working order and damaged equipment is repaired in a timely fashion
General equipment upkeep ex. Software updates
Keeping in house facilities in an organized, cleanly and inviting manner
Using an online booking system to book equipment for members and keeping accurate records of those bookings
Advising the Executive Director and Board of Directors on needed purchases or improvements to the equipment and facilities.
Enforcing policies regarding proper equipment and space use
Managing invoices and receiving payments for rentals
Working collaboratively with the programming coordinator to plan equipment needs for upcoming programming
Researching technical needs for grant applications
Reporting production related expenses to the Executive Director
Maintaining membership records and relationships, advising members on membership structure
Collecting feedback from membership and public on how the facilities could serve them better.
Preferred Qualifications
A high level of computer literacy in both PC and MAC environments (Mac is our dominant operating system and would require more regular use)
Experience with media production equipment, (HD cameras, lighting and sound recording equipment, editing software etc.)
Excellent research capabilities and the capacity to be self-directed both in achieving tasks and finding solutions to problems
Ability to research and troubleshoot high level technical problems
Attention to detail and organizational skills
Works well collaboratively
Flexibility and eagerness to learn and grow in a fast changing media landscape
Knowledge of contemporary media arts and a genuine interest in local arts
