Social Media Takeover @ CFAT

The Centre for Art Tapes is excited to announce Social Media Takeover, a series of week-long social media residencies for Atlantic media artists who are interested in sharing and engaging with our online community. During these strange times, we’re looking to provide local artists with opportunities that allow them to share their practice, connect and/or show us what they’re up to at home. This may include any combination of posts, stories, or live streaming on our Instagram and Facebook profiles.
Posts made during these Social Media Takeover residencies will also be posted on a page of our website, to serve as a sort of archive.
We will be running this program for a total of six weeks, with a different media artist for each week. In an effort to open this opportunity sooner rather than later, we will be treating this as a rolling call - apply now or anytime over the next six weeks. Applicants will be selected based on the following:
-Proposing creative ways of connecting with our followers
-Their commitment to holding an anti-oppressive framework
-Interest in sharing throughout the duration of their week-long residency
-Must be interested or currently working in electronic media including video, audio, and/or new media
Artists will be paid a $325 honorarium fee for the completion of the week long residency.
To apply, please send the following with the subject line "Social Media Takeover" to cortney@cfat.ca:
-A brief proposal of what you would like to share for your week-long residency (this can be written, audio or video recordings or find a time to speak with our Interim Executive Director over the phone)
-Examples of past work that may be relevant to this residency
-A brief bio and/or CV - if you don't have a CV, that's okay!
-A link to your Instagram account (if you have one that you would like to share with us)
If you have any questions, please get in touch with our Interim Executive Director, Cortney Cassidy, at cortney@cfat.ca

The Centre for Art Tapes is accepting submissions for our 2021 Curator in Residence program. We are looking for proposals that offer an exciting media art presentation to be presented in a public setting, with physical gathering restrictions in mind amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Technical grants are a quick turn around grant for in-kind use of our facilities and equipment. These grants are great for small self funded projects, or for helping you get through that last push of a larger project. These grants will be offered three times a year on an annual schedule.
