The Board of Directors of the Centre for Art Tapes is pleased to announce the new Communications and Program Coordinator, Kristy Depper.

Kristy first gained communication and programming experience back in the early 2000’s while working at a non-profit youth centre called The Playground, located in Toronto, Ontario. While there, she taught photography, graphic design, web design and general computing skills to high-risk street youth. Since then she’s worked as a digital imaging Instructor, Mac Technologist, and Project Manager at Sheridan College, and more recently as a Studio Manager for several Toronto commercial photographer studios. Two years ago Kristy joined us in Halifax in order to complete her MFA at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) University. In addition to undertaking her thesis project, Kristy also took on curatorial and committee responsibilities at NSCAD.

Kristy is a photographic artist motivated by the effects of socio-political privileging on the concepts of individuality and community. Her work employs a form of mapping and documentary to frame social experiences related to the notions of community and the construction of identity.

Kristy holds an MFA from NSCAD University in Halifax (2014), where she was awarded the Bombardier Graduate Scholarship from SSRHC, the Roloff Beny Scholarship, a Graduate Fellowship Award and a scholarship from the Nova Scotia Talent Trust. Additionally, she holds an Honours BFA from Ryerson University (2012) and a Diploma in Applied Photography from Sheridan College (1999).

Please join us in welcoming Kristy to our organization!
