CFAT Summer Program Assistant

Job Description:

The Program Assistant ’s primary role is to provide support to the staff at the Centre for Art Tapes. The Program Assistant regularly meets with the Communications and Program Coordinator and Director to plan, implement and evaluate the results of pertinent tasks, prioritize upcoming deadlines and support programs by assisting with organization, maintenance of the facilities, and assistance to users of the Centre.

The Program Assistant will assist in the following areas:

  • Daily administration of the Centre
  • Program support, including Summer Camps, Residencies, Halifax Artists’ Apartment, Gottingen 250

The position is ideal for a creative, collaborative team player who is flexible, hands-on and able to work with diverse individuals and groups in a busy environment. Good communications are required, including oral, written and presentation skills. Especially important are good telephone skills and comfort working in a digital environment.

Knowledge of media arts, audio, video and electronic equipment, and experience working with young people are assets.

The Program Assistant reports directly to the Communications and Program Coordinator and works closely with the rest of the CFAT team.

Wage: $11.00 per hour; 30 hours/week for 6 weeks

Eligibility:

Applicants MUST be a student residing in Nova Scotia for a minimum of six months prior to the work term and meet the following criteria:

•be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;

•have been registered as a full-time post secondary student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year);

•be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act5; and

•be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
