2021 AGM coming up!

The staff and Board of Directors of CFAT are pleased to invite you to our 2021 Annual General Meeting which will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, June 30th at 7pm ADT. As a member of CFAT we hope you will attend.

At this meeting we will review the year end financials of our 2020/21 fiscal year, programming and general operations of the organization from April 2020 to March 31, 2021. The board is also proposing a revamp and refresh of our CFAT bylaws. A summary of the changes to the bylaws can be found below. You can read the new bylaws in full here BYLAWS

The perks of attending: The first ten people to attend the AGM will receive a FREE one year individual membership and a CFAT tote bag.

2020/21 CFAT BYLAW REVIEW

Over the past year the CFAT Board of Directors and Governance Committee have conducted a thorough review and re-write of our governing bylaws. The overall theme of changes proposed in this new draft is simplification and clarity as well as modernization to align with new technology and virtual meeting styles.

OVERALL UPDATES:


  1. All articles were re-written for readability + accessibility and better alignment to the Nova Scotia Societies Act. You can see this change throughout but does not include any changes of meaning.

  2. Modernizing the language throughout to bring CFAT and our governing documents up to speed with today's technology.

  3. The role of Executive Director has been clarified as well as the role of the Board in relation to the Executive Director and to committees. [4]

  4. Clarification of officer roles.

  5. Clarifying Board member term lengths [4.3].
    1. Directors will serve on the Board for a term of three years. Directors may seek re-election to the Board for a second term. Directors must not sit on the Board for more than six years in total, regardless of whether the six years take the form of two consecutive terms, two non-consecutive terms, or multiple partial terms.

  6. Definition and clarification around conflicts of interest [4.7]
