The 10th edition of the Emerging Digital Artist Award Exhibition is coming to Halifax!

The Emerging Digital Artists Award is an annual celebration of advanced creativity and critical experimentation in digital media. Proudly sponsored by EQ Bank, the prize recognizes the exceptional talents of emerging artists in Canada working at the forefront of the genre, highlighting the prolific and dynamic ways in which technology and art intersect.

This year’s exhibition presents the work of five remarkable artists across five distinct categories of digital art —Moni Omubor (still image), Carmilla Sumantry (moving image), Studio Ekosi/Caeleigh  & Keara Lightning (2D interactive), Quinn Hopkins (extended reality), and Francisco Gonzalez-Rosas (3D installation)— whose practices challenge conventions and redefine the possibilities of digital expression. Each recipient represents a unique voice in the discipline, exploring themes such as embodied knowledge, glitch, media-driven commodification and consumption, self-image and representation, and post-colonial futures. Together, their work invites us to reconsider our relationship with technology and the ways in which it shapes our understanding of the world around us, while generating new worlds that offer a glimpse into what is possible.

Hosted by The Centre for Art Tapes (CFAT) and partnered with the Khyber Centre for the Arts and Propeller Brewing, the exhibition will span three venues as a 15-minute walking tour of the North End and Waterfront neighbourhoods of downtown Halifax. This is the final leg in a travelling exhibition presented by Gallery TPW (Toronto), EMMEDIA Gallery and Production Society (Calgary), and now CFAT (Halifax). The exhibition has also been adapted into a digital art project for The MacKenzie Art Gallery (Regina) as part of their innovative online exhibition programming.
