Hotel Carpets (dance series) currently exists as a Vimeo website and as an immersive installation in the project room of the Centre for Art Tapes:
8am - 8pm
Tuesday December 9th
Wednesday December 10th
Thursday December 11th
Friday December 12th
In December 2025, hotel carpets for fugitives arrived at the Center for Art Tapes on Maitland Street - a.k.a. in the basement underneath Everyone Everyday - on Gottingen Street.
Come and stay. You can sign up for a private entry interval of 16 / 32 / 64 minutes, or dance at the web-portal launch party on Dec 6th.
This is not immersive theatre, it's an installation in development ... presentation... offering... seeking feedback. It's just you and the space!
Your host is a time-travelling bruise, a mixed consciousness of amber flesh and violet language modelling: continuity artist Grey Pittaapan Muldoon.
In the hotel - neither home nor homeless, entirely private and entirely public, eternal and ephemeral - is an archive of artifacts of embedded joy, relics. Witness the transmutation of poverty consciousness through autistic pattern recognition and spritefull resourcefulness.
Drifting tenses from austerity to ostentatiousness: in the world of 2025, 1925, 1825, 1725, 3025… and all elevated stops in between. Will the Ritualists and their resonances, or the Preservationist and their seeds, serve the Survivance Conference best when they encounter The Hollow in the Oratory?
Exploring how individual prior perception creates what is individually perceived now. Themes of housing alienation, resourcefulness as pattern recognition, interpolation, home, passing, and cognitive resistance. How is individual and group cognition formed by passing, codes, switches, backgrounds, checks, charge, and masking? If I am resourceful enough to dance with a carpet, you cannot take me: yet.
About the space:
The installation Capacity 004 Fugitives: Hotel Carpets 4 has 5 different Video channels.
Channel P: The website is accessible inside the installation via a smart television wall mount.
Channel 4: a single 2:15:00 minute loop of all the videos.
The other three projector Channels are doing something special.
Channel 1: Small and bright, shows one “floor” of the hotel.
Channel 2: Diffused, shows the “floor” below it.
Channel 3: Blends channel 1 and 2 in real time in infinite combinations. The bed is covered in light on the pale carpet.
The box of the queen bed is constructed with a box made of old sound panels. All sound is diagetic, you hear the unedited sounds from the moments the videos were made.
Audience members can lie down, watch television, vacuum, watch time, or reflect with a mirror. Audience provided with cold water, duck eggs, and copper.
The hotel has 33 floors and an elevator. Audience members push guitar pedal buttons to woosh between floors
Collaborations with John Jannigan Mills (Elevator Gimmick) and Tucker Trade (Party Glimmers) in the context of our personal resistance to housing alienation.
John, thanks for designing with me - you intensify my own pattern seeking vibrance with every glitch on your own.
Tucker, next time we push boxes uphill at 2.a.m. while the Class of 1990 reunion party sleeps it off, let’s evoke every three legged cat.
Thank you also to R.S.W, SSRelK, Eileen and Sev, RobC, the staff of CFAT and the 2025 Format participants: Never without any of you.
